Zagreb Design Week

Kartell exclusively presented its products at this year's Zagreb Design Week, featuring a new Smart Wood collection designed by famous French designer Philippe Starck.

The collection features pieces of furniture that mark a new chapter in the history of the brand, becoming part of the wider “Kartell loves the planet” project, aimed at enhancing good practice for sustainability throughout the production process and in the use of the raw material with low environmental impact.

In addition to the Smart Wood collection, Kartell also presented the new Be Bop chair designed by Ludovica and Roberto Palomba, a chair that combines several expressions in a single vocabulary, tracing the lines of the most traditional carved African stools and merging them with the American design of the golden years, echoing the concept of curved multilayer plywood. The result is a cultured yet wild design: it is no mere coincidence that Be bop, its name, represents the jazz movement, characterised by fast tempo and innovative harmonies.

We would also point out the brand-new stool that joins the family of seats created by Tokujin Yoshioka, and is crafted using a mould which enables the recreation of a 3D net that overlaps and crosses over. Thanks to a special injection technology, the layers of transparent or mass-dyed polycarbonate create a structure moulded in a single piece, which simulates a metallic net, with a painted or chrome-plated structure, painted with stainless steel for the outdoor version.

A wide range of products presented at the Zagreb Design Week conveys several strategic guidelines of the Kartell brand as a constant search for innovation and experimentation with new materials.
